The Grandview Boys Basketball program needs your support!

Players are starting their fundraiser which will run until December 3rd. They are selling a variety of items to meet your spirit-wear needs and in all sizes, even youth.

If you are interested in supporting our basketball program and promoting spirit here at GHS, please email reggie.morris@grandviewc4.net.

You do not have to pay for your spirit gear until it returns, which will be the first week following Christmas break, January 6th-9th. If you are paying by check, please make your check payable to GHS.

Thanks in advance for your support!

Congratulations to the winner of the Belvidere Spelling Bee!  Clint Schmidt spelled his way to gold Tuesday night, with the winning word “neigh.”  He’s been a student at Belvidere since Kindergarten.  Luke Foster, a 5th grader, took second place in the event.  He was followed by Austin Willis who placed third.  Good luck to Schmidt, who will now go on to the Jackson County Bee, held early next spring. Great effort by all 18 contestants!

Meadowmere PTA Honored with 2014 Missouri PTA Parent Education & Involvement Award

Meadowmere’s PTA’s effort to promote the national STEM initiative last school year, with its annual Science Night went unnoticed. The organization was recently recognized by the National PTA and awarded the 2014 Missouri PTA Parent Education and Involvement Award.

Meadowemere Elementary PTA Science Night had activity booths pertaining to Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Aerodynamics, Electricity and Robotics. The national organization recognized the event as an excellent example of how PTA’s can make a difference in children’s lives.

This initiative has started Meadowmere’s PTA members on a path to bring much more science to our school and community!

GC-4 Trivia Night a Huge Success!

Not only was there plenty of fun to be had at this year's Trivia Night, but enough money was raised to help continue the mission of the Grandview Education Foundation.  This year’s event raised the most money out of any Trivia Night GEF has had so far and it has the GC-4 community to thank for it.  More than $9800 was raised.  GEF uses the funds to support Innovative Teaching and Staff Grants, scholarships to GHS graduating seniors and other special events.

Congratulations to the winners:
 1st place-Got Brains?
 2nd place-Natural Disasters
 GC4 History Trivia winner-Pam Pinkerton

Thank you to all the sponsors, participants and GHS class of ’85 alum KMBZ’s Krista Martin Klaus and class of ’85 alum Greg Martinette who were honorary emcees!

Middle and High School Students Compete in Prep-KC’s Annual Math Relays

The Fifth Annual Prep-KC Regional Math Relays held at Grandview High School last weekend brought out hundreds of students excited about math.

Approximately 600 students from 22 schools (Center, KCMO, KCK, GV districts represented) competed in the event.

The relay put students to the test in a timed challenge to answer 20 questions in 15 minutes. Calculus students participated in an all-day Sigma marathon event and the winner took home a $500 scholarship.

Honeywell, Cerner, and KU were major sponsors of the event, which was initiated by Prep-KC.
Thank you to GHS Pro-Start who prepared breakfast and lunch for approximately 60 volunteers, test proctors, sponsors, and team coaches in the Hospitality Room.
