GMS Vice Principal Tim Moore as King George Visits Martin City
5th grade Martin City teacher Tara Havens scheduled Mr. Tim Moore (GMS vice principal) to visit students in costume as King George. They discussed and shared information with the students from his point of view as King George pertaining to the American Revolution. They are currently studying the American Revolution and they are reading the book George V/S George. They will be doing some opinion writing around the topic after they are learned both sides of the disagreement. The students spent some quality time asking "King George" questions.

Martin City Middle Jazz Ensemble Excels at the Missouri Valley Jazz Festival
The Martin City Middle School Jazz Ensemble traveled to Marshall, Mo Saturday and performed at the Missouri Valley Jazz Festival. The Students did an outstanding job and received many glowing comments from the judges.
Outstanding Solo Award Winners were: Thomas Guzan-Alto Sax, Cesar Vargas-Trumpet and Jason Keleher-Piano and Drum Set.

Martin City Students Skype with Alaskan Author Cindy Ailaud
Mrs. Aillaud is now a retired kindergarten teacher from
Alaska. While teaching, she wrote the
book, Recess at 20 below. The book
is nonfiction and it explains how students get ready for recess, what they do
while they are outside and how they even have the occasional moose visit them
on the playground.
The second grade team at Martin City has developed a month
long project based learning unit centered on Mrs. Aillaud book.
