Before the big win Friday night for the Grandview Bulldogs
against the Ruskin Eagles, district leaders celebrated the high school stadium’s new
look.
A ribbon cutting ceremony took place dedicating Grandview
High School’s new entry of the stadium. It was held under the GHS arch. Dozens of
community members and district leaders were there to celebrate the
occasion. The school board’s vice
president, Wayne Terpstra did the
honors by cutting the ribbon. All of the
administrators involved got to take home a souvenir ticket to mark the occasion.
“The new stadium entry, which complements the Archway in
Main Street Grandview, is a wonderful "front door" to The Grandview C-4
School District. Without doubt the people who enter know they are in the home of
the Proud Grandview Bulldogs,” said Superintendent Ralph Teran.
The project includes a stamped concrete entry place, a grand
entrance arch, ticket booth, and flag pole area. There’s also new landscaping and fencing from
GHS to High Grove Early Childhood Center.
“We are excited about the newest upgrade to our athletic
facilities. The new entryway truly brings a touch of style and class to our
stadium. The district has done so much for our student-athletes and we look
forward to what is coming next,” said Steve Robertson, Athletics Director.
The project began in June, as soon as the regular school
year was completed. The contract for the project totaled $370,682.
