Check out what’s been growing out of the gardens at Grandview High School. Students reaped a harvest of vegetables already this fall. The Grandview High School Ecology class has been participating in a project with Kansas City Community Gardens for the last two years. Students have six raised bed gardens and have produced over 500 pounds of produce the last two years (334 pounds and counting this season).
“The goal is to teach students about the importance of healthy eating and growing their own food,” said Heath Cooper, GHS Science Teacher.
Last year students were given the Marder Award for the school yard garden that demonstrates “spirit of community gardening”
