During the grand opening celebration, Big Lots District Team Leader Dennis Strickland will present $2,000 to both Belvidere Elementary School and Martin City K-8 School. Principal Liz Means of Belvidere and Assistant Principal Jaqueline Spencer of Martin City will accept the checks on behalf of the school. "The students of Martin City will greatly benefit from this generous donation which will ensure supplies will be available in their classes," said Martin City Principal Johnny Dodge.
The schools were chosen based on needs and because they are neighborhood schools to the store.
"Belvidere Elementary is overjoyed for the very generous donation by Big Lots! Our Scholar Students will definitely benefit from the school supplies that the donation will provide. We deeply appreciate the generosity of Big Lots and their investment into our Scholar Students and our school! Thank you Big Lots," said Means.
The ribbon cutting ceremony is will be Friday June 12th.
