Blue and Gold Brigade Kicks off Fall Sports on August 15, 2014

We got spirit, yes we do! We got spirit, how about you?  The Grandview Bulldog spirit was loud and proud at this year’s Blue and Gold Brigade event.

This is the second year for the occasion.  All of the district’s fall sports teams come together and display their hard work so far and talents.  The event brings excitement to the fields of Grandview High School. Sports teams like girls’ tennis, volleyball, softball, cheerleading, golf, boys’ soccer, football and both cross country teams held exhibitions, scrimmages, and their own introductions Friday night.

"We just want to showcase our kids and our facilities and we want our booster club to be involved and present and just get everybody else on board and all the parents to showcase our students."  Steven Robertson, Athletic Director.

The event ended with a performance by the Blue and Gold band. It kick started the district’s sports fall season on a high note.

Grandview C-4 Welcomes New Board of Education Member

Newest BOE member Greg Griffie officially joined the team during Thursday night’s board meeting.  Griffie was sworn in and appointed to the seat by board members.

Griffie says he had a desire to be on the BOE comes from a growing belief that there is ALWAYS something more that we can do or that we can help with.

“My goal for being on the board is a simple one:  I want to be a part of the bigger picture.  I want to be part of a guarantee that our children and their children in time are receiving the best education and skill set that we can possibly provide for them,” said Griffie.

Griffie is from the Southern Arkansas agricultural region originally and moved to the Grandview area in 2000 with his wife, Laura and son, Donovan.  His son graduated through the Grandview school district.   Greg works in the field of ophthalmology.

He will serve until the election in April 15.

Grandview Middle School Ribbon Cutting Celebrates New Gymnasium on 8.13.14

Students have been waiting all summer to see what their brand new gymnasium would look like.  This week the wait was over.  Wednesday night Grandview C-4 School District leaders and community members celebrated the completion of the remodeled gym with a ribbon cutting at Grandview Middle School.

“The gym renovation is exciting! It brings our facilities to the same level or higher to those schools around us,” said Jennifer Price, GMS Principal.

You can just smell the fresh wood on the floor of the new facility.  Price says it’s been a long time coming for students.  The old gym had been in place since 1967.  The gymnasium’s new look includes ceiling lights, painted walls, and a brand new wooden floor.

“We thank the Grandview community for its support of the bond issues which made the construction possible.  It shows our students we value them,” said Price.

Gym class won’t be the same for GMS students. They received a warm welcome in their brand new gym Thursday as they returned for the first day of school.

Butcher-Greene Summer Explorations Students Donate to the Grandview Assistance Program (GAP)

Students in Ms. Belk's Summer Explorations Read 180 class in the Grandview School District collected almost 1000 items during summer school to donate to the Grandview Assistance Program. They began their summer by reading about heroes making a difference. Then, they conducted research to determine the needs of their own community.  After that, they put together and presented a proposal for principals, requesting that they be allowed to collect hygiene items from the entire summer school.
