1st Place for the GHS Blue & Gold Brigade at Missouri Day Marching Festival

The Grandview High School Blue & Gold Brigade marching band took first place among all class 4A bands for the fifth year in a row at the Missouri Day Marching Festival in Trenton, Mo., Oct. 18.

The band and color guard received first place (highest point total) in Music, Marchi
ng and Maneuvering and General Effect categories for overall Field Show highest point total of the nine 4A bands. Grandview had the second highest Field Show point total out of all 36 bands in all classes.

The Blue & Gold Brigade drum line also place third in its class in the indoor competition.

The 110-member Grandview marching band and color guard is unique in that it is a completely volunteer activity - all practice time is mornings and evenings outside-of-school time - and that the band includes eighth-graders (this year 21).

Missouri Day was the last competition of the season for the Blue & Gold Brigade which place second in competitions at Missouri Western University (St. Joseph), Lee’s Summit North and Carrollton, Mo. earlier in the year. The Grandview C-4 director of bands is Danny Watring.
