Meadowmere Mechanical Maniacs Head to FIRST Robotics Regional Competition

Robtotics students at Meadowmere aren’t far behind the GMS Techno Dogs as they both head to regionals.  The Meadowmere Mechanical Maniacs also qualified for the January competition. That’s the first in district history where there’s been two teams competing.  The Mechanical Maniacs won for Robot Performance this past weekend at Bingham Middle School in Independence.

The theme for FIRST Lego League this year is Trash Trek, so it’s all about recycling. The team had to build and program a Lego EV3 robot to complete mission that were related to reducing, reusing, and recycling.  The team was the first in the region to get 500 points or more in competition this season by earning 502 points in performance.

“Our students worked very hard on their robot game, presentation, and team work paid off. We are very excited to head to Union Station in January,” said Carrie McDonald, Meadowmere Mechanical Maniacs Coach.

The FIRST Lego League Championship will be at Union Station January 16th.
